What does competitive dance bring…so much more than a trophy…

 

Confidence...The strength a dancer builds each time they walk on a stage to perform...attend an audition…or just perform in the studio in front of teammates. Each moment builds upon itself.

 

Discipline...Not the kind from home or school…but within themselves, they learn how to become self sufficient, it starts with just getting homework done early because they have practice, then becomes doing their own packing for competitions or performances, and before you know it they are researching and filling out college or job applications…it goes quick

 

How to fail and how to recover…and how to cherish the wins... Everyone fails and wins at some point in life, it's how you react to it that makes the difference. If you fail, can you pick yourself up and try again, can you learn from it? Have you surrounded yourself with others that can support picking you up in the lows, and applaud you during the highs…could you be the one to pick someone else up and applaud them?

 

Perseverance…competition sports are not easy, life is not easy…but competitive athletes learn how to push through it…so when life gets hard they learn to push harder.

 

Accountability…to themselves and teammates, team sports is about a unit, not just an individual.

 

Determination...competitive athletes are always thinking of the win…but dancers have something special , when a team comes together and are determined to put a piece on stage and execute…there is nothing like the rush to hear the audience cheer, knowing what they did on that stage had an effect on someone. Dance is an art…and art can move you in ways we can not fully comprehend.

 

We don’t do this for the trophy…we do it to build the future leaders of tomorrow.
